“the great long-lost collaboration between Ennio Morricone and Phillip Glass that we didn’t know we were missing.”
Indie classical group Montopolis turns your west Texas tale into song in this new suite inspired by Big Bend. The performance weaves science, history, legend, and personal stories into music inspired by the land and the people that have walked upon it. Have a story you brought back from way out west? Bring it. Share it. They’ll turn it into music.
Led by composer Justin Sherburn, Montopolis is an indie classical group from Austin, Texas. Their music folds country, folk, and rock idioms into modern classical arrangements to create “stunning and transcendent” (Austin Chronicle) concerts. They produce multi-media events that combine live music with photography and interactive story telling. The Montopolis musicians include members of the Austin Symphony, Okkervil River, The Polyphonic Spree and the Tosca String Quartet. Montopolis hopes to inspire responsible stewardship of natural resources through performances that celebrate the beauty of nature.
